Luzerne County Republican Committee

The Luzerne County Republican Committee is run by an Executive Committee that is elected every four years.

The Executive Committee is headed by the Chairman and includes voting and non-voting members. The Executive Committee meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at GOP Headquarters, 41 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.

The county party is divided into six districts, based mainly on the Pennsylvania state legislative districts.

Each district is comprised of the elected and appointed committee people -- two from each voting precinct -- who elect a chairman.

Districts meet regularly and, in most instances, the district chairman is supported by a vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. The district chairman is a voting member of the County Executive Committee.

Districts hold their own fundraisers and participate in county events.

State Committee

Luzerne County Republicans are represented at all Pennsylvania Republican Party functions, meetings and official events by a seven-member state committee.

The delegation includes the county chairman and six state committee members who are elected at-large by county Republican voters in the primary election every four years.

The latest election was held in May 2010; three men and three women were elected to the committee.
